Non Surgical Rhinoplasty
Non surgical rhinoplasty is basically a nose job without surgery and is sometimes referred to as the fifteen minute nose job. Using dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm or even the patient's own fat can fill volume around nose and smooth lines and bumps. Keep in mind that the results are temporary and will last from eight to eighteen months, and longer if using your own fat. Down time is minimal and the cost is substantially lower than with a traditional rhinoplasty. The biggest risk is bruising, but this can be covered easily with make up. It can be done with local or topical anaesthetic and performed easily as an office procedure.
Non surgical rhinoplasty has none of the risks of traditional surgery. There is no significant swelling or pain and the results are immediate. The patient is awake and can see what is happening as the injections are done. The injections are done in small amounts and you will be asked for feedback throughout the procedure. Since the injections are temporary, small adjustments can be made over time as your face changes, so your results will always look natural. The first injections typically cost around $1,000.00 and follow up injections around $800.00-$900.00, depending on what product is used. Right now the FDA is in the process of approving injectable fillers for longer periods of time. When these are approved, the results may last from five to ten years. The cost of these products is yet to be determined.
Keep in mind that these non surgical nose jobs are not for major changes or for people who have structural problems in the nose. They are an option for people who want to fix small imperfections. These patients may be too busy for a traditional nose job with its longer recovery period, or they may only want a quick refresher. They can be used to fill in dents and camouflage lumps and bumps and can contour the nose to some extent. The injections are placed very precisely so the results can be refined easily.
If this sounds like something you want to try and you don't want traditional rhinoplasty, schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon who is skilled in this procedure. They will be able to give you an idea if it will be a good option for you. They will likely have before and after photos and testimonials from patients who have had it done. This will help you to make an informed decision.
